PSP 1000 Series: “The Original”; Fat.
PSP 2000 Series: “The Slim”; Gets certain firmware updates not available on “The Original”
PSP 3000 Series: “The Newest”; Has a microphone( hole next to the PSP logo)
I have one. It amazing. With the PSP you can look at your photos, listen to music, watch movies or videos, play games, and even search the Interweb.Depending on the size of the memory card(Memory Stick Duo) can greatly effect how much fun or useful it is to you. I have an 8gb; most of which is taken up by music. UMD’s are store bought PSP movies or games.
Pictures/Photos: Depending on the size, and space available, on your Memory card, the PSP will allow you to view your photos that you have loaded to it. You could also take pictures with it if you have the PSP Camera, but do to a recall and the fact that they aren’t avaliable in America yet/anymore, you won’t have to worry about that feature. In order to import/export photos to/from your PSP you will need a USB cable.
Music: This is my favorite feature.Depending on the size, and space available, of your Memory Card you can put music onto your PSP. There are speakers one the PSP, AKA those little holes next to the “Triangle” and “Up” buttons. You can also use the headphone jack available on the bottom of the PSP. In order to import/export music to/from your PSP you will need a USB cable.
Movies/Videos: You can buy UMD’s which have movies on them, or you can download a movie on to a Memory Stick Duo(depending on the size and space available). I found a cool website that allows you to download videos directly to your PSP. (I’ll put up a post up about that later).
Games: You can buy UMD’s which have games on them. You can also download demos or full games from the Playstation Store, available on your PSP if you have the latest update. One feature I don’t understand is “Game Sharing”. I know that, if you and a friend have the same UMDgame, that you can play against each other in the multiplayer. But supposedly, if you have a UMDgame, and your friend doesn’t, your friend can turn on the their PSP’s “Game Sharing” and you can both play that game. I haven’t got it to work. If you know how, let me know. Another great feature is that with certain games you can go online, provided you have WiFi access.
Internet: If you have WiFi access you can play on the Internet using your PSP. I use it for Facebook and Myspace mostly, and to check Kraskr.com updates.
Personally I like the 2000 Series the best. I’ve searched the internet for reviews/comparisons. The 2000 and 3000 are definately better than the 1000, but the only difference between the 2000 and 3000 is the microphone and screen brightness.
If I missed something, messed up, or you know of something I don’t; let me know.
